There’s Never Enough Time

We hear it all the time (and say it all the time ourselves).  There just isn’t enough time in the day to fit it all in. We can’t find the time to make it to the gym or do anything for ourselves.  We get it; it’s a daily struggle to get everything done at work, get the kids to their after school activities, make a healthy dinner, help the kids with homework, make sure the house is clean (or at least livable), and pack lunch for the next day.  We keep telling ourselves that we can wait. Everyone else is more important.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Over the past two years, I have made every excuse in the book as to why I couldn’t take time for myself.  But, what I’ve realized is that I can’t wait for that time to come around. I finally started to actually plan it into my day.

Many of us use a calendar on our phone or a planner to keep track of everything going on in the house.  What if we made an appointment with ourselves? Schedule your gym time into the weekly calendar and make it a point to keep that appointment, just like you would any other appointment for your kids or work.

I know it won’t be easy and it definitely is hard to make the commitment, but the first step is simply writing it down in black and white (or purple, or blue, or green).  The second step is walking through the gym door for one hour of “you time.”
