Normal…don’t wait for it to return!

We are closing in on the end of 2020 and what a year it has been. We have no idea what the next 3 months will bring, but we do know that for the last 6-7 months we have been living in the midst of uncertainty. Nothing has been our version of normal.

We know how hard this has made it to stay motivated and on track for a lot of people. Simple every day things like going to work, taking the kids to school, shopping for groceries, and even going out to eat have become an order of magnitude more challenging and stressful.

When our gyms reopened earlier this year after being closed for 3 months, we heard from many people that they were going to “wait until things got back to normal” before they came back or started a workout routine. And while we respect that decision, we cannot wait until things get back to normal to continue to care for ourselves physically and mentally.

This may look different for everyone. You may come into the gym for classes, or schedule personal training sessions to minimize your contact with others, or even workout with a personal trainer over zoom. Whatever your version of safe looks like, we can support and help you reach it.

But with 2021 looming ahead of us, we know this for certain…there will always be uncertainty and there will always be a reason to put it off until tomorrow. Don’t let “waiting until things get back to normal” be your reason today. Because we never know what normal will actually look like.

This year already has caused us to alter our expectations of how we live and interact with others. What we can’t afford to do is continue to wait for things to go back to how they were before. That all or nothing mentality means that we often miss out on an opportunity for positive change that may be right in front of us.

If you’ve continued to put your own health on hold over the last half of the year, it’s okay to start over. It’s okay that your workout routine might look different than before. Maybe it’s a different time of day, or a shortened version.

Ask yourself, what is ONE thing that you can do today to get started again.
